Kanagawa Yokosuka
神奈川県横須賀市・鴨居に建つ二階建ての一軒家を、この土地特有の“海と森が同居する静けさ”を軸に再構築しました。
すぐ近くに横須賀美術館と観音崎の海が広がる環境から着想し、外の光や湿度、海風の揺らぎを室内のデザインに自然に取り込むことを目指しています。
1階のリビングには、波の揺らぎを思わせる壁紙を採用。
和室の骨格を残しながら、大きな窓から差し込む柔らかな光が壁面に拡散し、海沿いの透明感と和の骨格が違和感なく共存するようトーンを整えました。
ラタンや麻、木材といった自然素材の家具・照明で統一し、海辺の空気そのものを、重さを感じさせずに室内へ引き込む構成としています。
2階の寝室は、海の深さ思わせる青のペイントで壁を仕上げました。
和室の建具とと組み合わせることで、落ち着きと適度なコントラストを備えた寝室へと改善しています。
ペイントのマットな質感が朝夕の光を吸収し、時間帯によって色が変わる“海辺の家らしい揺らぎ”を感じられるようデザインしています。
ビフォーでは、荷物の多さと老朽化により光の流れが遮られ、空間全体が重く見える状態でした。
今回の計画では、色・素材・視線の通り方を整理することで、鴨居の環境と建物の構造が無理なく調和する住空間へと整えています。
This two-story house in Kamoi, Yokosuka, was updated to reflect the quiet coastal environment surrounding the Yokosuka Museum of Art and the nearby greenery.
The design focuses on how natural light enters the rooms and how materials read within that light, aligning the interior with the character of the area.
On the first floor, the living room was refreshed with a wave-patterned wallpaper inspired by the calm tones of the nearby bay.
The color palette was adjusted to work seamlessly with the home’s existing Japanese architectural elements, and the furnishings and lighting were unified with natural materials such as rattan, linen, and wood to maintain consistency throughout the space.
The second-floor bedroom features newly painted blue walls, adding a measured contrast to the traditional woodwork.
The matte paint finish softens incoming daylight and allows subtle tonal changes across different times of day, creating a calm and stable atmosphere for rest.
Before renovation, the space felt heavy due to clutter and aging finishes, and natural light was not fully utilized.
By reorganizing color, materials, and sightlines, the updated interior creates a coherent living environment that responds well to both the structure of the house and the surrounding Kamoi landscape.
